RULES  OF THE ROAD​

• Each race team will consist of two pushers, one rider.

• Each race is for time. There will be no heats, so give it all you got on the one and only running!

• All participants in the Adult Race must be at least 18 years of age, be a member or a relative of a member of the organization entering the race and must sign a release prior to the race. Identification may be requested.

  Bed specifications:

• Edges, corners or projections on bed must be adequately padded to avoid injury

•  Bed must be STRUCTURALLY SOUND TO BE PUSHED ON BUMPY STREET

• Some form of safety strap, tie down, belt, helmet, etc...for rider

• No baby, styrofoam or air mattresses allowed

• Mattress must be securely fastened to bed

• Beds should be decorated and ready for judging for the “Best Dressed Bed” Award. This year's theme is "In My Watermelon Era"- a celebration of watermelon throughout the decades.

• Bed must be pushed from headboard end and cannot be pulled.

• Foot power only, no propelling motors or engines allowed.

• Pushers MUST be able to stop bed from full velocity within a reasonable distance.

• Teams must have beds at staging area no later than 6:15 PM and be ready for inspection.

• Bed may be disqualified if rules/specifications are not met and entry fee will be forfeited.

• First race begins at 7 p.m.

I do hereby agree to abide by the rules, regulations, and guidelines of this contest. The contest director/staff/venue will not be held liable for any injury, loss, or damage before, during, or after meetings, rehearsals, competitions, any and all future events, etc. The judges’ decisions are final and nonnegotiable. NO REFUNDS WILL BE GIVEN (unless the contest is cancelled.) I attest to the truthfulness of the information provided. I agree that my family and I will show forth good conduct at all times.

PHOTO RELEASE

I give permission to the Monticello Jefferson Chamber of Commerce, the Watermelon Festival Committee, and all event sponsors, to record the appearance, physical likeness and/or voice on videotape, on film, or digital video disk, and/or take photographs of the appearance of my child and to release these images to the news media, use for posting on the Intranet or Internet, use in internal or external publications, or use in any other manner deemed appropriate by the Chamber, Festival, or Sponsor.

I acknowledge that the Monticello Jefferson Chamber of Commerce is the sole owner of all rights in, and to, this visual, sound production, photograph(s), or print material, thereof, and that it has the right to use or reproduce the resulting property as often as it finds necessary. The property may be used indefinitely by television, radio, newspapers, magazines, newsletters, brochures, Internet, intranet, or in other media once released.

The Monticello Jefferson Chamber of Commerce has the right, among other things, to edit and/or otherwise alter the visual or sound recording, or photographs, as needed. I understand I will receive no compensation for the appearance of the above-named person or for participation in said productions. I agree to hold the Chamber, Watermelon Festival Committee and all Sponsors, their employees and other parties harmless against claim, liability, loss, or damage caused by, or arising from, my participation in this activity. Revocation of this release may be made in person to the Monticello Jefferson County Chamber of Commerce.
